PRINCE2 / MSP / ITIL Online Exams using Remote Proctor
Secure Remote Proctor (SRP) - FAQs
1) What is it?
Secure Remote Proctor is a small device (about a kilo) which connects to a candidate’s computer via USB.
It enables delegates to take the APMG Exams in the comfort of their own homes and convenient time without the need for a physical invigilator. It is ideal for candidates (abroad) who may not have access to exam centres or those who may not be able to get to the exam centre.
2) How it works?
You place an order (Tel: 01202 736373 or select optional extra 'Remote proctor' whilst ordering online). The device is then delivered to the delegate’s home address (a week prior to the intended exam date) with instructions on how to use it. The delegate then enrols and authenticates the device through a simple online menu.
When the delegate is ready to take their exam, the device enrols them. Once enrolment is complete and data authenticated the device permits user access to exams.

3) What about security?
The SRP device comes with some security features such as Fingerprint detection, Photographic/ID, Video & Audio recording. The system authenticates the delegate prior to allowing access to the exam, it then restricts the computer’s functions and finally monitors the exam environment through video & audio, capturing all suspicious changes in sound and motion, just as a human proctor would in a traditional exam environment.
The system is constantly monitored by a third party and any suspicious activity (video) is forwarded to the APMG. APMG administrators also view and manage the candidate enrolment.
4) How much does it Cost?
It is available as an optional extra for PRINCE2, MSP and ITIL Passport packages at a charge of £75, delivered to anywhere in the world.
If a corporate client does require such a facility and perhaps on an on-going basis then we can arrange for the device to be purchased outright at a charge of £195 + VAT per device.

5) What is the guidance on the environment in which the exam is to be given?
Does it need to be a private room, with the delegate being the sole occupant or can it be given at the candidates desk say in a slightly open office cubicle type of environment?
The candidate should be in a private room, with only themselves in it.
6) What if the delegate is not able to take the exam on the requested date? Can it be taken a day earlier or a day later? What is the Tolerance?
The SRP device is generally sent across a few days prior to the exam date and the guidance at the moment is that they are expected to return the device back to APMG within 10 days of having received the device. Exam’s can be taken anytime during those 10 days.
