Kenya International Schools InitiativeIn October 2008 while running a PRINCE2 training course in Nairobi, Kenya, SPOCE forged a relationship with two people from the Kisii region, Kenya. Zablon Rashid Minyonga is a business man operating in Nairobi, and John Obiero is a Primary School Headmaster in Kisii. |

After a number of discussions it became clear to us that an opportunity was developing which would help achieve a long term goal of supporting a charity. Throughout the week, a number of meetings were held between the parties, and following the successful delivery of the training in Nairobi, SPOCE flew to Kisii and visited three schools in the area. We took a camera to the schools - the result of which can be seen by clicking the video image. Kisii (or Gusii) is a small tribe found in the Western part of Kenya in a province known as Nyanza, situated near Lake Victoria. The people here are generally poor and make a living by practicing peasantry farming, relying heavily on government handouts. Education Standards are very low and the infrastructure is poor. |

The Kisii charity will initially focus on three situated in South Gucha district, South Mugirango Borabu Location.
While the Kisii charity has been set up as an independent entity from SPOCE, it will be supported heavily by SPOCE. |
| The projects undertaken to improve the schools will take advantage of SPOCE’s expertise in project management. All projects will apply the principles of the PRINCE2 method. | |
