  • Extensive Exam Approaches module to support the new 'Objective Testing' Practitioner Exam.

PRINCE2 Hard Copy Publications*

PRINCE2 Exams*

  • Foundation Exam
  • Practitioner Exam

* Publications & examinations are recommended and are available at additional cost.

With regards the time required to complete the learning, people are different and go at different paces.  As a guide, we recommend that 25-30 hours is completed to Foundation level study, or 50-60 hours is committed to the full Foundation & Practitioner level study.  We propose that individuals create a "Personal Learning Schedule" that will plan their study over a period of 4-8 weeks.  This will help them focus on progress and achievement.  Some people may be able to complete the learning in 1-2 weeks, with others taking up to a year.  There is no time limit for when the exams are taken, although once the exams are purchased, they must be taken within 12 months of date of purchase.

MANAGING THE LEARNING

The benefit of providing distance and self-paced study is that the learning is facilitated by a manager rather than a trainer.  This not only reduces costs, but using an internal resource to manage the learning programme ensures that the training continues to support the business need.

It is essential that  a management structure oversees the learning programme.  The use of distance learning should be approached like any other training.  The two common approaches that organisations can take to ensure the staff complete the learning are as follows.

Users complete the distance learning during office hours

Benefits

  • Ensures that users are allocated time to complete the learning
  • Users are within a working environment
  • Users have access to other resource and experience during the learning

Drawbacks

  • Increases the cost of user resource
  • Users may get distracted by other work commitments

Users complete the distance learning in their own time

Benefits

  • Reduces the user resource, hence the overall costs of the training programme
  • Encourages a “partnership” training programme – the Company pays for the training, the Users pay with their time.

Drawbacks

  • Users potentially feel isolated during the learning
  • Reduces management of the individuals during training

The PRINCE2 Passport CBT can be made available on either CD or through the Internet.  When PRINCE2 Passport is accessed via the Internet, our Passport Administration System (P2PAS) facilitates management information to be produced.  More information on this utility is in the following section.  Alternatively, SPOCE can provide CD-ROMS for each individual undertaking the learning.

NETWORK USER LICENSES

Network User Licenses are available for use on the PRINCE2 Passport online website.  The PRINCE2 Passport Administration System (P2PAS), a student/learner administration and management system, supports the network licenses.  P2PAS has provisions to create and modify user accounts, email login details, send generic communication, process bulk uploads of user details, etc.  P2PAS also has a reporting module that allows tracking and assessing of the user’s learning progress.

The structure of the P2PAS is demonstrated in the diagram below.

Passport Network Structure

On purchasing a Network User License package for PRINCE2 Passport, a P2PAS Administrator License to P2PAS will be provided.  This Administrator license is required to enable you to set up and manage your own User Accounts.  Additional P2PAS Administrator licenses can be purchased if required. Click here to view P2PAS. The demonstration login will provide access for you to understand how the P2PAS is used to create users and groups, communicate with users and generate progress reports for users and groups.  It is recommended that you view the User Guide prior to using P2PAS.

Network User License Costs

The costs to organisation wishing to use P2 Passport and P2PAS vary according to the number of people who will undertake the learning.  For a tailored quote of costs, please contact the Passport Support Team on +44 (0)1202 736373 or email info@spoce.com.

Network User Licenses are sold as “per user” and are not concurrent.  Each Network User License permits one individual to use the PRINCE2 Passport e-learning software for a period of 12 months.  During the 12-month license period, all content is assured, supported and, where necessary, updated by SPOCE Project Management Ltd at no additional cost.  Extensions to licensing agreements can be purchased at a cost of 17.5% of the published price of the license.

SUPPORT PROVIDED BY SPOCE

SPOCE will provide technical support for questions that relate to technical issues of the product.  SPOCE has a database of frequently asked questions and answers that assist with the few problem areas that exist with various operating systems.  SPOCE will also provide technical assistance at Admin Level for the P2PAS.

End User e-mail and telephone support for PRINCE2 topics is not provided with the standard licenses.  SPOCE can provide PRINCE2 telephone and email support as part of a separate agreement.

COPYRIGHT AND IPR

In all cases the Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of P2 Passport remains with SPOCE Project Management Limited.  Unauthorised copying, distribution or modification of the product is strictly prohibited.  Terms of the product user license apply.

PASSPORT REVISION EVENTS

PRINCE2 Passport is accredited to Practitioner level study, with many users succeeding in the exams with no element of classroom training.  However, a number of clients choose to schedule Passport Revision Events to provide users with the chance to interact with other members of the organisation, and to gain advice from our approved trainers.

Prior to taking the Practitioner Exam, the recommended Passport Revision Event focuses on examination questions; provides discussion on various elements of the method; and gives advice to attendees on examination technique.  Most clients usually combine this event with an examination day.

Arrangements for the Passport Revision events can be made by contacting the SPOCE offices.  Costs for these events will vary depending on circumstances, but will be around £2,200 + VAT per 2-day event (maximum 12 delegates) plus exam fees.  An example timetable for the Pasport Revision Event can be seen by clicking here.

PRINCE2 EXAMINATIONS

The Foundation exam is a multiple-choice question paper.  A score of 38 out of 75 questions must be achieved to pass the exam.  The Foundation exam tests the candidate’s knowledge and understanding the PRINCE2 Method.  The national pass rate for people taking the Foundation exam is around 95%.  Currently 100% of individuals who have used Passport to learn PRINCE2 have passed the Foundation exam.

The Foundation Exam must be successfully completed before you can attempt the Registered Practitioner exam.  The PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner Exam is a 2.5-hour scenario-based exam.  The objective of the exam is to test the candidate's ability to apply the method to the given scenario.  A score of 59 marks from a possible 108 must be achieved to pass the exam.  The national pass rate for the Practitioner exam is around 74%.  Currently around 85% of individuals who have used Passport to study PRINCE2 2005 have passed the Practitioner exam.

The costs of running both the Foundation and Practitioner exams at your offices are £350 per candidate plus invigilation fees and expenses.  The examinations can be split and be taken on separate days if require.  SPOCE also run public exams in London and Bournemouth.  The costs for individuals attending the public exam events are £150 per Foundation exam and £250 per Practitioner exam (includes invigilation, lunch and refreshments).

The invigilator will mark the Foundation exam answer sheets and the results are available immediately.  The Registered Practitioner exam answer scripts are sent to the APM Group to be marked by authorised examiners.  The results from the Registered Practitioner exams are usually available within 8-10 weeks.

Exams should be booked a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the required date.  The exams are usually taken on the day immediately following the Passport Revision Event.
